Our company specializes in the management of non-hazardous wastewater.

Following the provisions of the JMD ΚΥΑ 50910/2727/22-12-2003/Issue of Government Gazette 1909/Β «Measures and conditions for Solids Waste Management. National and Regional Management Plan», waste are classified into 20 chapters depending on the production sources (activities) or the nature of materials, and each waste is described by a six-digit code. This list represents the European Waste Catalogue (EWC).

A company should classify its waste and ensure its further management, if it does not have a treatment plant itself. Specifically, a waste producer is obliged to be contracted under a licensed management company for the specific produced EWC.

The term management refers to the collection, transport and treatment of a waste stream. The company EFTHIMIOU LTD covers the collection and transport of the collected waste to a licensed management facility.

It is noted that those involved in the above mentioned process, namely the producer, the transporter and the manager, should bear the necessary licenses:
  • The producer should possess an approval of environmental terms and an operating license with a reference for their generated waste to the respective EWC codes and their management options.

  • The transporter should possess a waste collection and transport license which is issued as referred in Article 8 of the JMD ΚΥΑ 50910/2727/22-12-2003/Issue of Government Gazette 1909/Β.

  • The waste recipient – manager should possess an approval of environmental terms and an operating license for the specific management process per EWC waste code.

In case of non-compliance with the above mentioned by anyone involved, penalties are applied after control. Specifically, for Industrial Non-hazardous Waste, the accountable manager is the producer and the owner and the principle “the polluter pays” is fully applied through the approval of the environmental terms for operation of the various facilities and activities.

The producer company must record the quantities of the generated waste as also keep a record of their reception and management documents. It is noted that this process applies only to industrial and not to municipal waste.

According to the above mentioned, the goals of our company are:

  • The informing of our customers on legislation and environmental coverage topics

  • The transport of waste in compliance with the legislation

  • Our contribution in the phenomenon elimination of uncontrolled waste disposal and in the cessation of unlawful behaviour in waste disposal.
